Biomimicry: The Natural Way to Teach STEM
Bring STEM learning to life using nature as the inspiration for sustainable design in this free, best practice, online Professional Development opportunity.
Biomimicry is a sustainable design process that encourages students to tap into and emulate nature's incredible problem-solving skills. Nature becomes the teacher alongside you in (and out of) the classroom, helping you to create dynamic and authentic STEM learning experiences for your students.
Teachers will:
- Be introduced to our Biomimicry Teaching Framework, a step-by-step process to help guide diverse learners through the skills they need to practise Biomimicry.
- Learn practical skills that will inspire students to connect, observe and discover the natural world through science inquiry.
- Discover how Biomimicry can link to multiple Learning Areas and Capabilities across the Victorian Curriculum.
Covers the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers:
- 2.1 – Content and teaching strategies of the teaching area(s).
- 3.1 – Establish challenging learning goals.
- 3.3 – Use teaching strategies.
- 6.2 – Engage in professional learning and improve practice.
