The Royal Botanic Runway
Premiering on Thursday, 30 January 2014, this inaugural runway event features world-renowned Australian designers: Akira Isogawa, Aurelio Costarella, Collette Dinnigan and Martin Grant. Each designer has produced stunning pieces to be worn by over sixty local and international models.
Celebrating a beautiful union of fashion, flora, design and the environment The Royal Botanic Runway ultimately aims to help protect the Gardens for generations to come.
All funds raised from the event will assist with Stage 3 of the Water Strategy Project. This project will allow the Gardens to secure an adequate supply of water to protect the precious plant collections and eliminate the need to rely upon potable water.
Tim Entwisle, Director and Chief Executive of the Royal Botanic Gardens said there is no better place for the event than Guilfoyle's Volcano.
'The Volcano represents the vision of an exceptional designer, William Guilfoyle, whose 1876 concept was reworked and brought to life in 2010.
'Backed by philanthropic support, and designed by staff at the Gardens, the spiral boardwalk around the Volcano creates one of the most stunning runways in the world. What better place to experience Australia’s most inspiring fashion than among the exotic beauty of nature.'
